Who I am and What I do
My professional life revolves around my love of learning. My career has been spent as an educator, designer, facilitator, and coach. The time spent navigating the intricacies of learning theory, practice, and design has helped me develop a wide range of knowledge and skills. That knowledge includes a masters degree in instructional design and technology, to go along with professional skills that include but are not limited to being a(n)...
• Dynamic designer and developer
• Wizard with Articulate Storyline and Rise
• Queen of Camtasia and Canva
• Absolute ninja when it comes to working with a team and building relationships with
stakeholders at every level of a project.
In addition to sporting many hats in instructional design and e-Learning (and looking great in those hats!), I have developed talents that are valuable in any professional setting. For starters, I...
• Have excellent interpersonal skills
• Have a high degree of emotional intelligence
• Am someone with the dynamic presence to lead effectively, but also work effectively
within a group to maximize each of our strengths.
Yes, and...
Other talents I have developed were as a member of an improv comedy team in Denver, CO. During my time working with this group, I not only honed the quick thinking and confidence to charm even the most skeptical Subject Matter Expert (SME), but also learned to work closely within a team. Improv is all about a “Yes, and” philosophy. The “Yes” acknowledges and validates the ideas presented, and the “and” demonstrates the flexibility and willingness to collaborate and contribute in ways that allow the entire group to succeed. It was an experience that helped shape me as an instructional designer and a professional. That time working with my team in practice, and on stage those many years shaped me into the positive, engaging, and reliable teammate I am today, and has helped me develop a wide range of tools in my overflowing (yet well-organized) professional toolbox.
I welcome the opportunity to connect with your organization and show how I can contribute as an instructional designer and an excellent professional.
Skills That Bring Results
With a rock-solid foundation in the principles of adult learning theory and instructional design (ADDIE and SAM), I use my array of technical and professional skills to create diverse learning experiences that bring measurable results.
I specialize in the design and development of customized e-Learning solutions by using technology such as:
Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise)
TechSmith Camtasia
Vyond
Canva
Microsoft 365
Microsoft Copilot
Google Suite
Learning management systems (LMS)
With these skills, I deliver:
Custom course design that is visually appealing, grounded in adult learning principles, and uses blended learning strategies to maximize efficiency.
Interactive e-Learning modules tailored to specific training needs that will enhance learner interaction, engagement, and retention.
Microlearning videos, modules, and job aids that extend learning opportunities.
Graphic design for training materials that simplifies complex information, increasing comprehension.
Complementing my technical skills, I can also apply my professional skills to help manage the training needs of your organization by:
Conducting needs analysis and offering consultation and strategic planning to optimize the training process.
Working closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
Delivering detailed and comprehensive design documents and storyboards that will clearly layout the learning objectives, audience, strategies, assessments, and modalities.
Applying an iterative approach at each step of the process to promote collaboration and ensure the best possible outcomes for your organization.
